Carbon offsetting — A great way to reduce our Carbon Footprints
Filed under Greenhouse Gases, Stop Global WarmingNov 28Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the major greenhouse gas that results from human activities and is responsible for global warming and climate change. The concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere are increasing at an accelerating rate from decade to decade due to the burning of the fossil fuels in our day-to-day life. Each of our everyday actions consumes energy and produces carbon dioxide emissions e.g. taking holiday flights, driving our cars, working with computers, heating or cooling our homes and offices etc.
Fossil fuels like crude oil, coal and natural gas, being made up of hydrocarbons release carbon dioxide when burned. The carbon dioxide which is released to the atmosphere remains there for 100 to 200 years. This leads to an increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere, which in turn causes the average temperature on Earth to rise. Studies show that climate change that takes place due to increases in carbon dioxide concentration is largely irreversible for 1,000 years even after emissions stop. That’s why it is absolutely necessary to take steps now in order to save the Green Planet. In General, Carbon footprint is the term that we use to define our environmental impact in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that we release into the atmosphere. We leave our carbon footprints both directly and indirectly, and the total of our environmental impact is the sum of all these contributions. The main contributors to our carbon footprint are: household electricity and heat, transport, food and clothing. All of these can be translated into a number of tonnes of CO2 per annum released into the atmosphere. All the goods that we consume are either transported in freight vehicles, shipped around the world in containers, or both. This also contributes to our carbon footprint.

Stop Global Warming
Filed under Stop Global WarmingMay 11Global Warming Articles : Stop Global Warming by Paul Arnold
More frequently we are being given reminders that we are living on a fragile and volatile planet. Many of our natural resources have been processed to near depletion. As the world population grows more land and resources are being used to cope with the increase in demands and deforestation, this in turn has a by product, Pollution and Global Warming. Global Warming is a “Global” issue and is not particular to one event or action, although one event or action repeated round the world by millions of us could make a big difference.
Because the effects of Global Warming are created by many different actions it is hard to put a “Cover All” solution into place. A “Cover All” solution is equally hard as it would have to be established as part of an international policy, a policy that would need every country to sign up to, but that’s politics and will be covered in a separate article. This article is aimed on focusing the individual actions.
What can one person do?
Alone, not a lot but imagine if millions of others just like you done the same thing round the world! That would make a big difference on a Global scale, now imagine this happened with various different products at the same time!
The biggest pollutant in most of our lives is our beloved Car, for most of us the car is an integral part of our lives. Without taking the drastic measures of not having a car and hampering our lifestyles there are still a few tricks left to reducing the motor vehicle carbon emissions. Car sharing work journeys, lower c02 emission cars, hybrid cars, cutting out short journeys that can be done on foot, and public transport.
Having now looked at the ways to reduce global warming in regards to your traveling attention can now turn to the management of household waste products like old bottles, newspapers, excess paper, tins, unwanted toys, food and other such items. Many of these items can be recycled or disposed of without being put into a general land fill. All it requires is a few vital minuets to separate and sort it and it’s done.
For instance you can make compost for your garden from food stuff like onion peelings, tea leaves, spoiled vegetables and fruit can be turned into compost. The items like tins, old bottles, papers and newspapers can be taken to recycling centres where they will be eventually taken for recycling.
You can take your old clothes, toys and other goods to charity shops so that someone else will have the chance of using them. This way you can prevent the many garbage dumps from becoming too full. This is another way to reduce the effects of global warming that rarely crosses our minds.
As you can see, while the large industries and companies work to reduce global warming on a large scale, the small scale reduction is down to the individual. For those of us who are looking at the ways to stop global warming our homes, the way we travel and our lifestyles can be looked at with this goal in mind. In the end it is all of our collective efforts to stop global warming which will help us to live a better and cleaner life. You may only be ably to change one element of the above at a time, but can you imaging the impact if everybody done just ONE thing?

Stop Global Warming
Filed under Stop Global WarmingMar 31Stop Global Warming Articles : How to stop global warming by Enviro Saver Carbon Offsets
Global warming is referring to the rise in temperature of the entire earth, which is caused by greenhouse gasses being put into the air by human activity, getting trapped in the atmosphere, which causes the temperature of the earth to slowly rise. Global warming is becoming increasingly recognized as one of the world’s leading challenges, as the effects of global warming are seen more and more every day. The world’s most developed countries are releasing far more carbon emissions than less developed countries. While Australia is a fairly environmentally savvy country, we are responsible for a large amount of carbon emissions due to coal exports, as well as general personal emissions. Australia is a country at risk, as climate change and global warming will continue to harm the large agricultural industry with prolonged droughts and flash flooding.
What can Australia do to stop global warming? Surprisingly, a lot can be done to curb the effects of global warming and climate change. It is a matter of actually making changes in order to help heal what has already been damaged. Much of Australia has already been in a drought for the last five to seven years and these droughts are only going to become worse and more permanent with each passing year that nothing is done. Clearing the land, for example, is one thing that has to stop if Australia is going to help reduce the visible effects of global warming on our country. Identifying alternative fuel sources will also greatly help Australia reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. Most of the electricity being used in Australia is created by burning fossil fuels, which greatly contributes to global warming. Identifying a new source of energy would be another way of stopping the progression of global warming.
In short, some ways for Australia to stop contributing to global warming include changing the way agriculture is practiced to a more efficient way, clearing less land of the vegetation that collects carbon dioxide from the air, stop relying on coal for energy and make use of alternative energy, recycle and reuse more and use alternative transportation that does not put as much, or any carbon dioxide in the air.
At this time, Australia is actually seen as one of the worst contributors to global warming in the developed world, mainly because production of coal, as this causes carbon emissions, as well as becomes a fossil fuel which will release carbon emissions when burnt. With making the change to more green ways of living and of creating energy, Australia could easily become one of the leaders in stopping climate change. Not only that, but this change will help to save Australia from becoming a barren desert and ultimately ending up under water as oceans rise due to the melting of the polar icecaps.
